Woodie Lamont White III

Woodie Lamont White III, 61, was born on November 16, 1963, to Rose Ellen White and Woodie White Jr. in Indianapolis, IN. He was a graduate of North Central High School and worked for 18 years at IU Health, where he served as Team Lead for the Environmental Services Department. Woodie was deeply dedicated to his job and considered his coworkers his extended family, forming lifelong friendships along the way.

Known affectionately as “Lil Woodie” by those who loved him, he was a tall man with a quiet demeanor, yet fiercely protective of his family. Woodie had a sharp sense of humor and a love for laughter. He was deeply rooted in a close-knit family, and cherished entertaining them at gatherings often delighting them with his unforgettable James Brown impersonations. Woodie shared a special bond with his siblings-Lindy, Nettie, Fefe and Red and they often gathered to reminisce about their cherished childhood memories. Woodie looked forward to the yearly Christmas Eve party where he devoured his favorite dish, dressing, made by his big sister Lindy. He also had a special connection with his daughter, Vaniya, and enjoyed spending time with his favorite aunt, Lori.

Woodie passed away on December 3, 2024, and was preceded in death by his parents, his sister April White, and his grandparents. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Vaniya Bell; his siblings Linda White-Little, Annette Akerson (Tracy), Jeffrey J. White, and Michael White-Webb; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends.

While we grieve his loss, we are grateful for the 61 years he shared with us, and we find comfort in the knowledge that his spirit lives on in the lives he touched.
