Willie Roy Byrd, age 55, Indianapolis, Indiana passed away April 13, 2017 at home suddenly in his sleep beside his loving wife.
Willie was born February 12, 1962 in Los Angeles, California to Arsellas Byrd and Laura Jessie Latimer of Wyatt Missouri.
Willie was preceded in death by both of his parents and one brother, Charles.
Willie leaves to cherish his precious memory his wife, Shelley D. Byrd; two sons, William (Ashley) and LaWilliam Rashad; two daughters, Keona (Renea) and Erica Marcum Byrd; two step-daughters, Simone and Elon; two step-sisters, Opal Overby and Freda Brinkley; two brothers, Thomas Brinkley (Silvia) and Bruce David Byrd (LaShawn); nine grandchildren, Heaven, Josiah, Messiah, Kamden, Koby, Kaleb, Kira, Jaden and Avery; cousins, nieces, nephews and an abundance of friends.
Willie was an active member of the U. S Army where he earned a host of medals. He was employed by Libbey Owens (Pilkington) of Shelbyville, Indiana.
Willie was raised in a Christian home and accepted Christ at an early age. He was previously an active member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church where he was involved in the breakfast fellowship of feeding residents of the neighborhood and was also active in the bible study ministry. He never lost his faith in God.
Willie attended George Rogers Clark School #1 and Arlington High School in Indianapolis, Indiana where he excelled in basketball and football. He lettered in both sports and was a sports fanatic supporting the Colts.
Willie was the proud owner of a limited edition of the 'Black Colts Jersey'. He was involved in a fantasy football draft each year with several of his friends and did quite well with his and their choices.
