Williametta J. Tubman

This is the story of Williametta J. ('Dolly', also known as 'Mommy') Tubman. Williametta was a wonderful mother who was loved, is missed, and will always be cherished. 'Dolly', as she was called by when she was little, was an amazing wife, mom, and daughter.

Her story began on November 14, 1933, the oldest child of three siblings born to William Tubman and Annie L. Greene. Williametta was born in Maryland, Liberia. Her siblings, both deceased, are Thomas Augustus Tubman 'TAT' and Mary (Tubman) Brown.

Williametta, who was a strong believer in the Lord Our God (The Father, Son and Holy Spirit), loved to help others and always put others first. She attended the St. John Bethany Mission School in Grand Cape Mount County, Liberia, where she earned her high school diploma. She was employed by the General Services Agency (GSA), where she served as a secretary.

Williametta was united in Holy Matrimony to Dessaline T. Harris. This union was blessed with three children: Dessaline T. Harris Jr., Leon Augustus Estes Harris and William W. Harris. Williametta was also blessed and bore three other children with her union to William Urias Gibson: William U. Gibson Jr., Martha (Gibson) Brown, and Reynold Gibson.
Williametta's grandchildren were her heart and joy.

She is survived by sixteen grandchildren: Norma Yato Harris, Dessama Harris, Dessaline Harris III, Dollymai Harris and Tracy M. Harris (children of Dessaline Harris Jr.); Jessica D. Williametta Harris (daughter of Leon Harris); Williametta Posh Harris (daughter of William W. Harris); Stacey Love Divua, Williametta U. Gibson, William U Gibson III., Andy C. Gibson, and Andrea K. Gibson (children of William Gibson Jr.); Wilfred H. Brown Jr. (son of Martha (Gibson) Brown and Wilfred H. Brown Sr.); and Reynold Gibson Jr., Urias Gibson and Merico W. Gibson (children of Reynold Gibson); and a host of great-grandchildren, loving family and friends.

Finally, one of the quotes that could be found in her daily life is 'Prayer is the Key to Heaven, but Faith unlocks the door.'
