Wanda Lois Rogers, the second child of the late Willie Roy and Emma Lizzie Rogers was born June 7, 1941 in Clarksville, Tennessee. In that same year of her birth, her parents relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana. Wanda attended John Hope School #26 and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis.
She accepted Christ at an early age at 16th Street Baptist Church which is currently Oasis of Hope Baptist Church. Wanda served in the Dorcas Ministry, was a member of the Nurses Aid Ministry and served on the Usher Board.
Wanda was employed at Larue Carter Hospital, General Motors, and L.S. Ayres.
When Wanda was in better health, she loved hanging out with her now deceased daughter Tonya. She loved to travel, and visit various casinos with friends. She was a caregiver to her late father Willie. Wanda enjoyed watching the national news and always had an opinion about the affairs of our country.
On Thursday, December 3, 2020, Wanda was given her wings and transitioned to her Heavenly Home at the age of 79 years and 6 months.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Tonya Rogers, her mother Emma Lizzie, father Willie Roy and sisters Alice Faye Bryant and Emma Jean Rogers.
She leaves to cherish her memory Brother Willie Rogers (Jean), Bonus Brother Raymond Henson (Natalie). Sisters Wilma Jones, Bennie Bradley (Glenn), Nina Bishop (Richard), Lena Barnett and Cassandra Rhodes (Walter). She also leaves loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, a host of family, friends, and The Oasis of Hope Baptist Church family.
