Walter Gerald Brinkley

Walter Gerald Brinkley was born October 28, 1953 to Betty Jean and William Brinkley Sr. in Indianapolis, Indiana.

He graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1971. After graduation he attended Indiana Barber College.

He worked for the Warren Township School District for 15 years.

Growing up Walter had an incredible bond with his parents and siblings. This would go on to shape his heart and his life. How he cared for and inspired any and everyone he would meet.

Walter was funny, compassionate, giving, hard-working and creative; just a guy that anyone could love.

He was known as a good Samaritan, with a smile that could light up a room. Walter was very, very charismatic and good looking.

He loved playing chess, basketball, drawing, fixing on cars, cutting hair even enjoying a day with family eating ice cream, playing cards and making them laugh.

He was a light in this world. If you knew Walter, you knew how much he loved God and God loved him and he will be greatly missed.

Walter Gerald Brinkley passed away on Thursday September 14, 2023 at the age of 69 years old. He is now reunited in heaven with his daughter, Memory Denise; mother and father, Betty Jean and William “Bill” Brinkley Sr.; niece, Ieshia Brinkley-Sanders; and nephew, Ryan Brinkley-Cox.

Walter is survived by daughter, Nichole Evans (Robert); step-son, Antoine Hurns; step-daughter, Shalicia Hurns; grandchildren: Faith Evans, Nicholas Evans, Nia Evans and Jeremiah Davis-Evans; step-grandchildren, JazzMinn Hurns and Antoine Hurns Jr.; siblings: Janet Brinkley, Valetta Brinkley, Maria Cox (Ballard), William Brinkley Sr. (Hazel) and Brenda Brinkley; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
