Vincent Milan Williams-Vince (aka Piece of Cake), father, brother, veteran, mailman, Mason, and friends to all. He will be greatly missed by all those he came in contact with. He had a full life of significant service to his Masonic Houses; He was a mentor, an advisor, and up-lifter, a supporter, and a teacher; he also had an unconditional love for all.
Vincent loved to go fishing as he did often with his children, and to play golf. He was the type of man who would give you the shirt off his back in the middle of winter and not think twice about it. HE WAS A MAN OF RESPECT. HE WAS A MAN OF HONOR. HE WAS A HUMBLE, GOD-FEARING MAN.
In the early years, after graduating from Connersville High School, Vincent married Mary Brooks, who gave him four children. Soon after, he entered the army where he served for two years being honorably discharged. Not long after that, he began his 40-year career working with the United States Postal Service as a city mail carrier (at Bacon station). During this time, he divorced and married Opal Hill who gave him his 5th child and 6 stepchildren.
Vincent was very active and instrumental in the unionization of the letter carriers, and a long-time active member of the National Letter Carriers Association. In the early years of his postal career, Vince joined the Masonic Brotherhood where he devoted well over 50 years of his life and served honorably, rising to 32nd degree with The Knights Templar being his most cherished house.
Vincent was born September 6, 1937, to Roy and Orena Vaughn Williams and was the 7th of 13 children. He was called home to rest on August 16, 2022, just shy of his 85th birthday.
Vincent was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Orena Williams; his wife, Opal; and siblings Sherman Williams, Shirley Foster, Nolan Williams, Marguerite Genevieve Thurman, Irvin Finley Williams, Luanna Harper, and David Williams.
Vincent leaves to cherish his memory, his five children, Carla Taylor, Vincent Williams, Jr., Rodney Williams, and Lisa Bender; his sons-in-law, Bernard Bender, and Roy D. Williams; his Wife, Angela; his sisters, Beverly Hutchinson, Julia Williams, Nancy Williams, and Leah Morris; his sixteen grandchildren, forty-seven great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Vincent M. Williams, Sr. you will be greatly missed but never forgotten!
