Verley “Arlene” Greer was born on March 16, 1942, in Yuma, TN to Elnora (Gooch) Woods and Verlin Jamison. Arlene confessed in Christ at an early age and was baptized at Hopewell Baptist Church in Yuma, TN where she sang in the church choir. She attended Montgomery High School in Lexington, TN.

Arlene was married to William Earl Greer who proceeded her in death. To this union four sons were born. Arlene worked many years at Milan Army Arsenal in Milan, TN.

Arlene was passionate about landscaping. Guests at her home marveled at her beautiful flowers and large plants. She affectionately referred to her plants as her “kids.” When she was in good health, if you drove down 32nd & Priscilla Ave., you would find her enjoying and caring for her “kids.”

Arlene also loved to shop. She was a regular at Catherine’s and owned every dress in their inventory. Arlene would not be caught in the same dress more than once! To the surprise of many, she was also a regular online shopper.

Arlene expressed her love in many ways. One of the ways she expressed love was through cooking and feeding others. She was the best cook! Her famous potato salad was frequently requested and a family favorite.

Arlene was preceded in death by her daughter Michelle Greer; husband, William Earl Greer; parents Elnora (Gooch) Belew and Verlin Jamison; sister Patricia Jamison Allen; brothers Eugene Woods (Eva), Elden Woods, John Belew, James Belew and Alvis Belew, SR (Carlotta); grandsons, Larr’e Greer, Tony Greer, Craig Greer, and Deandre Hill.

Arlene leaves to cherish her memory: loving daughter, Gwen Jamison (Fred); sons Darrell Jamison, Prentice Greer (Sharita), Timothy Greer (Sabrina), Tony Greer, Dwight Greer, and Ronald Townsend all of Indianapolis, IN; sisters Mae Clark and Jean Belew of Indianapolis, IN, Joyce Cherry (Michael) and Mattie Farrington of Jackson, TN; brother James Farrington of Jackson, TN; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
