Thelma Mae (Johnson) Moore was born to the late Olivia Billips on December 5, 1927. She resided in Indianapolis, IN and was the mother of Diana Moore, Deborah Moore, Denise (Moore) Shockley-Reynolds and Darrell Moore.
Thelma was blessed with a large family. She was a loving mother and grandmother who lived her life in service to others. She raised her family with patience, respect, and unwavering support and encouragement. She spent many decades employed as a licensed practical nurse, working at multiple hospitals and nursing facilities in Indianapolis. She was a passionate parishioner of the Catholic Church and had been a member of several churches, most recently St. Joan of Arc parish. Thelma’s favorite activities included reading magazines, watching old Westerns, gardening, and going to Sunday Mass services.
Mama, as she was affectionately called by her family, was a kind, loving, gentle woman. She was kind and soft spoken, and always made time for her family. She led by example, she was loved unconditionally, and will be deeply missed by her family and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Thelma transitioned peacefully from this world on Sunday, August 14, 2022.
Thelma was preceded in death by her son Darrell Moore, her grandson Reginald Lasley and her granddaughter Angela Shockley. She is survived by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, great nieces, and nephews.
