Shirley Ann Reives Dowdy

Shirley Ann Reives Dowdy was born in Indianapolis to the late Scott and Eular Reives.She attended John Hope School #26 and Arsenal Technical High School. Ms. Dowdy was in the dry-cleaning business for over 30 years. She retired from Meridian Heights Cleaner in May 2014.Shirley was married to Willie Earl Dowdy, Sr. for 30 years and from this union four sons were born.Shirley confessed her hope in Christ at an early age at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and was an active servant for the Lord. She was a very caring and giving person, a natural nurturer and very devoted mother. She was a truly glowing example to her family, always encouraging, inspiring, and supporting. She was a very stylish, patient and humble woman of God, and she served Him until He called her home.Shirley Ann Dowdy leaves to cherish her memory: her sons, Willie Earl Dowdy, Jr., James Earl Dowdy, Sr. (Mary), Christopher Allen Dowdy, Sr. (Nickesha); siblings: Earl Scott Reives, Sr. (Joyce), Tommie Lee Reives, Sr. (Jeanne), Dorothy Ann Thompson (Norrell), Christine Elaine Hart (Douglas), and Roosevelt Allen Reives; 4 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and a host of other loving family members and friends.Family and Friends Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 10am - 12 Noon at Pathway Missionary Baptist Church 3017 Shriver Ave. Funeral service will follow at 12 Noon.Burial will be in New Crown Cemetery.
