Shenell Nicole Sanders was born March 29, 1989 in Chicago, Illinois to Michelle Sanders and the late Lee Cole. Blessed to have two fathers in her life, Shenell was raised by the late Roy Raggs. She was the youngest of four children and the only girl.
At an early age, Shenell and her family moved to Indianapolis, Indiana. She attended Forest Manor Middle School where she enjoyed singing in the choir and then graduated from Southport High School in 2007.
Shenell accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior as a young girl, being baptized at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church. As Shenell continued her walk with Christ, she later joined Eastern Star Church and was baptized in 2016.
Throughout Shenell's life, she held a strong love for children. For many years, she worked at Bright Horizons Childcare where she was able to work in her passion and touch the lives of children. Though Shenell never had children of her own, she was affectionately known as 'Auntie Nell,' to 13 nieces and nephews. She took pride in her role as an aunt, by spending countless days and nights with her nieces and nephews. The kids looked forward to sleepovers where they watched movies, played games, and had tons of fun with 'Auntie Nell.' Additionally, Auntie Nell favored her time with her godchildren (Kerri Morris, Tausheona Poge, and Maria Williams), and of course, her dog and son Snowman.
A vivid memory about Shenell was her affectious smile. Shenell's smile was contagious and would brighten up any room. At times, she could be viewed as shy and quiet, however, her smile spoke louder than words.
On June 3, 2018, at the age of 29, the Lord called one of his most precious gifts, Shenell, home to be with Him forever. Shenell received her eternal healing from sickness and pain and gained her wings. As a believer, Shenell now reigns with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Shenell was preceded in death by her two earthly fathers Lee Cole and Roy Raggs, as well as her brother Maurice Sanders.
Shenell leaves to celebrate her life and memories; her mother Michele Sanders, two brothers, JaJuan (Ashley) Sanders, and Deonte Sanders; maternal grandmother, Cora Sanders; and paternal grandmother, Lillian Raggs.
