Sharon Kay Johnson was born March 24, 1958 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Mr. James Attris Johnson and Mrs. Marie Johnson; both of whom preceded her in death.
She attended Indianapolis Public Schools #29 and #56 and later graduated from Arsenal Technical High School.
Sharon worked as a mail sorter for the Indianapolis Post Office, a corrugated box maker for Inland Container Company, and a host of other additional jobs throughout the city.
Sharon loved gospel music, and was an avid reader who spent much time in bookstores purchasing books of interest and in libraries where she loved researching the periodicals and other forms of information such as African art, for which she purchased and collected. She also loved exercising, walking, traveling, and watching TV documentaries. Sharon had a heart passion that many may have not been aware of: that passion was for the care of missing, exploited, and abused children for which she devoted her time and efforts to.
In closing, the life of Sharon Kay Johnson was a busy one, as reflected in this obituary. Now, there will be many truly missed characteristics about Sharon's life, one in particular, will be her smile.
She departed this life on Monday, December 24, 2018. She leaves six siblings to cherish her loving memory: James Johnson Jr., Imogene Level, Anna Lucile Hayes, Willie Albert Johnson, Henrietta Johnson and Richard Lee Johnson. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews, as well as cousins and friends.
