Mr. Samuel Gregory Elliott, (known as Greg to most) 67, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2015. Greg developed a love for drawing, dancing, dressing, baseball, Motown music and for the City of Detroit at an early age. He was a third generation member of the UAW and worked in Detroit auto plants for Ford Motor Co., Chevrolet and Chrysler. As a member of the 'Normandy Street Blue Devils' softball team, he excelled as powerful homerun hitter and earned the nickname, 'Grand Slam Sam', for his ability to hit homeruns whenever the bases were loaded!Greg became a lifetime lover of the great outdoors early in life and really enjoyed fishing.He was a natural leader, intelligent, had a great sense of humor, enjoyed good conversations and was a captivating story teller, and a great dancer! He leaves to celebrate his life: Linda Elliott, his dedicated wife of 32 years, Son: Marcus Chatman, Clarence Cluchfield, Gregory Overton and Daughter: LaShawn Ford, Siblings: Marjorie Elliott, Donna Parrish and Mike Elliott (Ralnah), 5 grandchildren and many other loving family members and friends.Family and Friends Visitation will be held on Friday, December 4th from 3-8pm at Swanson Funeral Home, Inc. 14751 W. McNichols Street in Detroit, Michigan. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 5th at 11am at the funeral home. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
