Sam Eddie Brown was born July 28, 1939, in Crystal Springs, Mississippi, to Louis and Rosie (Washington) Brown. He attended Public School “Warm Springs.” Sam came to Indianapolis at the age of 15 years old. He went to Broad Ripple High School, where he graduated from.
Sam was employed at the Athletic Club. He later was employed at Car Bobs Restaurant as a Short Order Chef. After that he was employed at Borden Milk Diary as a Machine operator until he retired in 1989. He later went into business for himself and opened a Used Furniture Store. He loved restoring old furniture. He also owned Rental Property and worked to improve his houses.
Sam loved having family gatherings of which he would cook up various good and delicious food.
Sam was a singer in his own right. He produced and made CDs of his music in his studio. He loved singing and playing his organ, guitar, and tambourine. Sam loved doing landscaping in the yard. He could do many things such as roofing, siding, plumbing, painting, and even building rooms to his house, etc. Sam knew how to fix cars too. Whatever his hands found to do, he did it with all his might. Sam was always generous to family, friends, and those in need.
Sam was baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit in 1968 at Faith Apostolic Faith Assembly under the leadership of Elder Walter Plummer. He served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and Financial Secretary. He served there 11 years. Sam later moved his membership to Christ Temple Apostolic Faith Assembly Inc. in Indianapolis, under the leadership of Bishop Benjamin T. Moore, Bishop Byron V. Johnson, and Bishop Charles M. Finnell. Sam served on the Usher Board as Assistant Chairman with the late Bro. Cleveland Williams and other Chairmans. He also served as an Assistant Sunday School Teacher with the late Deacon Kenneth Ranelin. He also served assisting with the sound system with his son, Christopher Brown Sr. Sam LOVED to study the Word of God. He made sure he knew the Word of God.
Sam was married to the late Fannie Mae Kelly for 26 years. To that union six children were born. Fannie preceded him in death in 1988. Sam later married Leslie Ann Madry and became family with her and her three children in 1989. Leslie preceded him in death in 2022.
Sam was also preceded in death by his father, Louis Brown; mother, Rosie Brown; two brothers, Joe Louis Brown and James Earl Brown; two sisters, Parlee Baily and Mary Owens; and daughter, Shirley Jones.
Sam Eddie Brown departed this life on Sunday, February 5, 2023.
He leaves to cherish his memory, daughters: Sandy Walker, Evangeline Brown, LaKenya Brown, Tyranny Thurston and Andria Burkett; sons: Christopher Brown Sr. (Constance), Anthony Brown Sr. (Alicia) and Kenneth Thurston Jr; sisters: Evon Richardson (Leroy) and Rosie Jeffries (Henry); a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, Church Family and friends.
