Mrs. Sally B. Wright- Echols, age 73 passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2016.Sally was born on June 9, 1942 in Indianapolis, IN. to the late M.D. and Lillie B. Gardner Wright.She was a graduate of Crispus Attucks High School and the first recipient to receive the Bachelor of Social Work degree from Freed Hardeman College (now known as Freed Hardeman University) in Henderson, Tennessee. She was baptized at an early age, and was a member of Central Heights Church of Christ in Indianapolis. Sally was united in holy matrimony to the late Evangelist Eugene Echols on August 11, 1961. To this union six children were born. Sally was employed at the Center Township Trustee Office working under the late Congresswoman Julia Carson. She was very active in the community and civic affairs. She was a Sunday School teacher for several churches, a distributor for Amway, a member and leader of several other organizations, including but not limited to the NAACP. She was also a former beautician who had her own shop.Sally leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Joseph (Brenda) Echols, Eugene L. Echols and Darla M. Echols; 4 grandchildren, 5 sisters, 2 brothers and a host of other relatives and friends.Family and Friends Visitation will be held on Friday, February 19th from 4-8 pm at Lavenia and Summers Home for Funerals 5811 E. 38th Street. There will be an additional calling on Saturday, February 20th from 10am until 12 Noon at Lavenia and Summers and the Funeral Service will follow at 12 Noon. Interment will be in New Crown Cemetery.
