Roy 'Dirty Red' Bailey was born October 21, 1949 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Mary and Leroy Bailey.
Roy received his education in the Indianapolis Public Schools and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School. He worked for 12 years at Chrysler Automotive. Roy retired from Allison Transmission in 2009 after 32 years of dedicated service.
He professed a hope in Christ in his later years. Roy was able to rededicate his life to Christ before he transitioned.
Roy was married to his first wife in 1969 and from that union two children, Roy II and Shona were born. Later, he met Anne Lancaster and their relationship brought forth one daughter, Arian.
Roy was united in Holy Matrimony on October 29, 1999 to his loving wife, Dorothy 'Dot' Bailey and to their union two children, Kiera and Royshawn were born.
He was a loving and devoted father, a great husband and a hardworking man. Roy loved to fish, he enjoyed the casino and playing the lottery. He loved R& B music and was a very comedic man. Roy was a big football fan. His favorite teams were the Indianapolis Colts and Pittsburgh Steelers. His favorite shows were Law and Order and old westerns. He also shared a great bond with his mother before she passed.
Roy 'Dirty Red' Bailey began his eternal life with the Lord on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the age of 69 years old. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Bailey; father, Leroy Bailey; and dear friend, Anne Lancaster.
He leaves to cherish his memory to his loving wife, Dorothy 'Dot' Bailey; three daughters: Shona Bailey, Arian Lancaster and Kiera Bailey; two sons, Roy Bailey II (Tina) and Royshawn Bailey; two bonus daughters, Lakisha Merriweather and Roianna Murray; one sister, Lovie Bailey Love (Ihsan); two aunts, Betty Grider (Jimmy) and Florence Oatts; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, loving family and friends.
