Mr. Roosevelt Safer, Jr was born July 15, 1953, in Louise, Mississippi, the son of late Roosevelt Safer, Sr. & Ruth (Earnest) Chatman.
Roosevelt was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School. He later served in the United States Army National Guard Reserve.
Roosevelt was an active member of St. Mary’s Lodge #14 (PHA) Fort Wayne, Past Master Consistory 66 32nd Degree Mason, Saudi Temple #50 Past Potentate.
Roosevelt worked in construction for several years before retiring in 2008.
Roosevelt was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, friend & the best BBQ no sauce Rib Man this side of the Mississippi. He will be greatly missed by all.
Roosevelt Safer, Jr, departed this life on Thursday, January 16th, 2020 in Rosewalk Nursing Home. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Norlene Safer, his son Marcus Safer, daughters Sebrina-Reneé (Efrem) James, & Mercedes Coppin and son Lamont Safer; one brother George (Joy) Chatman, three stepsons, Cameron, Jeremy & Demarkus (Faye) Pennington, six grandchildren, five step grandchildren & one great granddaughter, six nieces, six nephews, three great nephews, six great nieces, and a host of other relatives & friends.
Roosevelt was proceeded in death by his parents Roosevelt Safer, Sr, Ruth & Earnest Chatman, sisters, Clemmie Redmond & Elsie Chatman-Kelley, brothers Earnest Chatman, Jr & Terry Chatman.
