Robert L. Kyles Sr.

A Life Well Lived and a Man Well Loved.

Robert L. Kyles Sr. was born in Philipp, Mississippi on June 20, 1950, to Harvey D. Kyles and Susie Mae (Gray) Kyles.

Growing up in Indianapolis, Indiana, Robert later moved to Los Angeles, California in 1978, followed by Orlando, Florida in 2010, and back to Indianapolis in 2019.

He tied the knot on February 14, 1983. Serving in the United States Navy for two years, Robert received an honorable discharge, a testament to his character and dedication. His love for sports went beyond a pastime, becoming a shared passion with loved ones, uniting them for spirited conversations and shared moments, particularly when rooting for the Lakers, Yankees, or Raiders.

Robert's life was characterized by resilience, devotion, and a deep affection for those he held dear. Known for his contagious laughter, generosity, and talent for bringing people together, his confident and easy-going demeanor, embodied by his trademark "cat daddy walk," was a reflection of his approach to life. As a father, son, husband, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, Robert's final moments were spent surrounded by family.

In the hearts of those who knew him, Robert L. Kyles Sr. will forever be remembered for his warmth, strength, and enduring love. Survived by his wife, Helen Kyles; four children: Latonya Holmes, Antonio Walker, Robert Kyles Jr., and Lilton Kyles; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five sisters: Elnora Scott, Estella Williams (Johnny), Lizzie Horton, Mossie Irvin, and Effie Cooper; one brother, Howard Kyles; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and a cherished bonus friend.

Alongside his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his grandparents; two sisters, Elizabeth Hall and Shirley Kyles; grandson, Jonathan “Johnny” Hill; and a loving circle of family, colleagues, and friends.
