Richard G "Billy" Mcclendon

March 22, 1938 — April 10, 2020

Indianapolis, IN

Richard G. “Billy” McClendon was born March 22, 1938 to the late John Tillis (“J.T.”) McClendon and Laura Mae Gaston McClendon in Scott County, Forest MS.
Richard departed this life on April 10, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, John (“J.T.”) and Laura Mae McClendon; Sister: Barbara Davis; brothers: Willie June McClendon and Eddie Hawkins; daughters: Lisa and Youlanda McClendon. Richard dearly loved all of his family. He carried them in his heart until his transition to be with the Lord. He was a Christian and believed in God.
Richard, better known to family and friends as “Billy”, loved to fish, cook, travel, and listen to the blues. He and his wife, Sheron, were inseparable and shared a lot of fun times together. If you saw one; you would see the other. He was an avid fisherman and thought he could out fish everyone and generally did! He had a great love for his family. To know him was to love him. He never met a stranger and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Richard worked as a contractor and cement finisher until his retirement. He was a dedicated, hard worker and took much pride in his work.
Richard leaves to cherish in his memory: Loving wife, Sheron McClendon; sons: Tony Shirley (Loretta), Richard McClendon Jr. (Vonda), Steve Malone, Anthony Malone (Frankie), Jimmy Meadows (Erika); daughters: Sheila Abebe (Solomon), and LaShauna James (Lonnie); brother: James Johnson; sisters: Mary Ivory (Sam), Mabel Ford, Johnnie Crice, and Josie Dubose (Alphonse). Billy leaves three loving Aunts: Dean Radford, Lucy Morgan, and Katie Collins; a nephew he loved as a son: Stephen Parker.
Affectionately known as “PawPaw”, he leaves to cherish in his memory a host of grandkids and great grandkids that will miss him greatly in addition to a host of many family and friends.
