Richard E Pervine Jr.

Elder Richard E. Pervine, Jr. was born August 25, 1957, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Richard E. Pervine, Sr., and Dorothy Hewlett. Richard was the oldest of four boys.  He married his high school sweetheart Marcia Cheatham, on December 3, 1977.   They were happily married 41 years.  They were blessed with four children, Victor L., Princess Y., Marques E. and Valerie M. Pervine.  Richard was also the father of twins, Kendra and Kalab Thompson. 

Richard attended IPS schools and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in 1975.  He went on to receive his Bachelor in Religious Education from Aenon Bible College.  He worked for the Rolls Royce Corporation for over 20 years and was well respected by his co-workers and made many lifelong friends.  

Richard professed his hope in Jesus Christ at an early age and was filled with the Holy Spirit.  He loved the Lord and put his trust in Him throughout his life and even through his illness. 

Elder Pervine, Jr. founded and pastored Greater Grace Apostolic Church for many years.  He loved going on cruises and traveling to many different locations.  He went on more than 30 cruises with his wife, children, grandchildren and parents.  He was a Diamond Plus member of the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.  He loved to sing, play the piano, and spend time with his grandchildren, whom he loved giving piano lessons. He was determined to take his grandchildren, Jazamine and Amya to Disney World, and accomplished this goal just before his passing. 

Rick (the name his wife Marcia so lovely called him) loved to fish and could spend hours on the riverbank.  He also loved to tend his garden, plant flowers and grill.  He could make the best ribs and briskets, both of which his family loved.  

Richard was surrounded by his loving family and friends transitioned from this world to eternal life with his Savior Jesus Christ, April 22, 2019, at the young age of 61.  He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving wife, Marcia, his children: Princess (Mark), Marques (Anne), Kendra and Kalab Thompson; son in law Freddie Barlow, step father Ronnie Hewlett, 11 grandchildren, brothers Jafar Abduhl-Bassir, Donald, and Daryl Pervine. Stepbrothers Ronald C, Jr. and Antwain Hewlett, adopted brother and sister Jira and Shatteria Hewlett, foster brother and sister Nancy, Manual and Terrance Roderick; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  He was preceded in death by his son Victor Lee Pervine, daughter Valerie Marie Barlow, mother Dorothy Hewlett and father Richard E. Pervine, Sr.
