Pastor Richard A. Hardister (Bumpsy) was born to Robert and Jaquline Hardister on January 13th, 1950, in Indianapolis, IN. He was the 3rd of 9 children. Richard attended Indianapolis public schools and graduated from Arsenal Tech High School. He played on the High School Basketball team and that is where the love of Basketball began. He also played for several years in different community leagues and enjoyed watching games with family.
Richard worked for 29 years for Hanchey Chemical. After retiring he continued to work doing side jobs and was involved with his Union Graphic Communication 17M where he served on the Board of the Union.
Richard started the First Philemon House of Prayer where he served as Pastor alongside his wife Ossie Mary Hardister. They spent many years ministering in the community. Richard loved to travel, camp, fish and play cards with family.
Richard always had a positive spirit and never knew a stranger and loved to talk and share stories.
He leaves to cherish his memory his ex-wife Pamela Briscoe, his son Richard G Hardister (Kristy), his two daughters Felicia Bryant and Angela Enoch and his Stepson Dequincy Lopez. He had 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his 2 Brothers William Hardister (Marlene) and Gerald Hardister (Angela) Hardister – 2 sisters Cheryl Hardister-Martin, Donna Hardister-James (Melissa); sister-in-law Marva Lee Humphrey and a host of nieces and nephews and other family members.
Richard was proceeded in death by his Parents, his wife Ossie Mary Hardister; Brothers Robert, Ronald (Tony), Mark, and Charles (Duke) Hardister.
