Orine Elizabeth Peoples (also known as Orene Elizabeth Peoples) departed this life on Monday, February 24, 2025 in Fishers, IN. She was born August 23, 1933 in Louisville, KY, the daughter of Francis and Orine Rhodes. She married James Otto Peoples, Jr. March 21, 1965.
Orine Peoples retired from General Motors in Flint, MI where she worked for 17 years on the Digital Board team. Prior to that, she was employed by Genesee Rentex where she worked as a commercial presser. She was a faithful member of Foss Avenue Baptist Church, Avery Aldridge, Pastor, where she served in the music ministry, floral club, worked with the church decoration team, and served as a Trustee. Orine and James moved to Indianapolis where they joined Eastern Star Church, Jeffrey A. Johnson, Sr., Pastor and then in recent years she became a member of New Horizons Church, Eric Wiggins, Pastor in Indianapolis, IN. She loved her family. She was affectionally know as MeMaw by her children and grandchildren and Auntie Libby by nieces and nephews. She was very giving and often opened her home to care for others, especially children. There are many who call her for advice and encouragement.
Orine lit up the room and never met a stranger. Her life was FULL OF LAUGHTER. You could hear her infectious laugh a mile away. She was kind and spoke with conviction and shared the love of God to everyone in her presence.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Francis and Orine Rhodes; husband, James Otto Peoples, Jr.; Sister, Bernice (David) Lott; and Brothers James (Dora), Donald (Norma), Buford (Jesse), and Charles (Mary) Rhodes.
She leaves to cherish memories her daughters, Patricia Lane and Bridget (Robert) Townsend, and Bonus Daughter, Yolanda (Jerry) Harrison; stepchildren, Larry, Terese and Reggie Peoples; grandchildren Petic Lane, Nia Townsend, Kayla Harrison, Triayanta Peoples, Reggie Peoples, Rasheka Williams, and Soledad Inez Peoples; great grandchildren Patrick, Kailyn, Jasmine and Brianna; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends
