Mrs. Norita Jo McIntyre McCoy was the third child born to the late William and Blondell Williams McIntyre on April 23, 1937 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
'Rita' as she was affectionately known, attended grade school at School #23, Junior High at School #17 and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in 1956. Throughout her life she attended New Baptist Church.
Norita was joined in marriage to Ernest O. McCoy in March 1957, and to this union there were born three children: Anthony, Karen and Keith.
She spent much of her childhood at Miss Perkins' Store on 10th and Missouri, sitting on the pop machine with her best friends, Gloria and Beetsey. Norita also enjoyed going to the Walker Theatre to the 9¢ shows on Saturday and weekend dances at the Walker Casino. As an adult, she enjoyed spending time with her sister Delores at the Sunset Strip on Indiana Avenue.
Norita was a former employee of Wickliff Cleaners, Wm H. Block and Co., and IU Hospital Ophthalmology Department until her retirement in 2003.
Mrs. Norita Jo McIntyre McCoy departed this life on Monday, February 19, 2018. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest O. McCoy; son, Anthony O. McCoy; parents, William and Bondell Williams McIntyre; sister, Delores Parham and brother, Thurl McIntyre.
She leaves to cherish her memory: Daughter, Karen D. McCoy; Son, Keith W. McCoy; Brother, Larry (June) McIntyre; Granddaughters, Andrea (Tony) Smith and Keiana Isom; Grandsons, Brandon Radford, Landon Radford, Keith Isom, Kevin Isom, Kristopher Holland and Trey Holland; Six Great-granddaughters, Six Great-grandsons and a host of other family and friends.
