Nola F. Harris

February 10, 1961 — January 4, 2017

NOLA FUSAKO HARRIS was born February10, 1961 at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri to Lewis Harris, Jr. and Tomoko FukiageHarris and was affectionately called by her family, 'Non-chan' [Nōn'chän].

NOLA went to Washington Townshipschools in Indianapolis, IN that specialized in training ones with disabilitiesand special needs. She graduated from Hilltop School at 19 yrs old. Nolareceived further training and a modified work assignment at Noble Center East.

NOLA was known for her loving andfriendly personality. She loved to be around people. Nola was interested inwhat others around her were doing and saying and would offer suggestions toassist. She had an outstanding memory. Sometimes Nola was loud, but that washer way of expressing herself. At gatherings and other social events, Nolaloved to laugh with you even if she didn't fully understand what was said orwhy. Nola always attended the meetings at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah'sWitnesses with her family and looked forward to seeing all of the friends andmaking new ones. She was taught Bible truths and could tell you God's name isJehovah and that His Son is Jesus.

At 42 yrs oldshe moved from living with her parents to a caring group home on the west sideof the city. Indiana Mentors provided her loving care and a measure ofindependence which she enjoyed for many years.

NOLA died in her sleep while sufferingfrom pneumonia on the morning of Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at the age of 55.She leaves to cherish her memory her mother Tomoko; three brothers, Don(Phyllis) Harris, Jeff (Karma) Harris, Peter Harris and two sisters, Sandra(Willie) Roberts and Tosha (Juan) Scott; and fifteen nephews and nieces,Chauncey, Nolan, Monica, Jason, Dawn, Phillip, Phylicia, Sara, Tomoko, Jaira,Kristopher, Myghan, TaShyla, Chanelle and Juan, Jr., along with many relatives,domestic and abroad, and a lifetime of family friends.

NOLA was preceded in death by her father Lewis Harris, Jr. (90) onAugust 12, 2013, and by her aunt Ichiko Fukiage (92) on December 30, 2016.


A Memorial Gathering was held at Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses 1857 Kessler Blvd West Drive Indianapolis IN 46228 at 12:00:00 PM on 1/9/2017.
