Nancy Elizabeth Phillips Minter

Mrs. Nancy Elizabeth Phillips Minter, age 97, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2016.Nancy, or Elizabeth, as she was known by many, was born in Nashville, Tennessee. She was blessed with the recognition of the importance of education and was very well educated, having received several degrees. Nancy loved school and learning, and she loved being able to give self-worth to all of her students as she felt if they had that feeling, then they could do anything academically and physically as well. As an adult she spent many years at Mount Paran Baptist Church but when Mt. Paran relocated, she began attending Mount Zion Baptist Church and was very happy with her decision. Nancy met and married John Frank Minter in January 1941 and they were married until his passing in 1985. To this marriage they were blessed with two sons.Nancy worked for the Indianapolis Public School system for more than 30 years. She also worked in a period of 20 years for RCA, Lux Laundry, Fort Harrison, IUPUI Teacher Corps and Martin University.Mrs. Minter is survived by brother, Jefferson Philips (Mickey), sons, J.F. Minter, Jr. and Roger Minter; daughters, Mercedita and Rosemary; grandsons, John III and Mario Minter; granddaughters, Keisha, Alisha, Aryonna, China, Zeniada, Jolaya Minter; gtandsons, Nickademus and Noah Minter; nieces, Sandra Epps and Diane Phillips and special friends, Mr. & Mrs. James Garnett and Quintella Wright.Family and Friends Visitation will be held on Friday, March 11th from 10am until service time of 12 Noon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 3500 N. Graceland Ave. Interment will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
