Myra Deneen Nelson was born on July 20 th , 1965, in St Louis MO, to Barbara Chambers and Abe Nelson.
In her middle school years, she and her family packed up and moved to Gary, IN. Myra graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1983 then continued to pursue education at IvyTech. Looking for better opportunities Myra moved to Indianapolis, IN in her late twenties and later began a career as general manager of United Artist Theatres where she later retired. In her retirement years she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, watching movie marathons, karaoke, and playing trivia games on her phone. Myra was always a good listening ear and gave sound advice.
The fondest memories of Myra were that she was an avid reader and wanted to pursue a career in journalism in her younger years. Myra was so kind, smart, witty, and strong-willed. She enjoyed her tv shows and had a passion for investigative reporting. If she were going to karaoke, you would catch her singing “Little Red Corvette” by Prince, who was one of her all-time favorite artists. Christmas was her favorite holiday because it was about family and friends and showing gratitude. She also enjoyed some good authentic Mexican cuisine as she stayed trying new restaurants. Anyone who met Myra could honestly say that they had met a loyal friend. Some longtime friendships turned into family. If she had it and you needed it, you could count it as yours. Her generosity was unmatched.
Myra Deneen Nelson passed away on December 20 th , 2024, with family present after a lengthy battle with Lupus. She is preceded in death by her mother Barbara Chambers, father Abe Nelson, brother John Nelson last love Nate Slater and best friend/sister Robin Cook.
