The Obituary

Milly Anne Lewis born to Artencie Mae Grier and Givens Grier on November 4, 1943 in Pensacola, Florida. She leaves to cherish her memory in her children, Marvin A. Collins, Michael D. Collins, and Marvinetta A. Lewis; two grandchildren Edward B. Lewis, Niara F. Collins, two siblings, James A. Smith (Wanda), Samuel C. Smith (LaMarra); Aunt Kate Gray and a host of other family and friends who love her. She was preceded in death by her parents, and eleven aunts and uncles.

Thank you all for Celebrating the life of a God-fearing woman, a daughter, a sister, a mother, a grandmother, a mentor to countless others. Those are just a few of the hats Milly Anne Lewis wore.

We are so grateful for the seventy-six years she spent on this earth touching the lives of others.

She is very proud of the three children she raised, although they have all taken different paths, she was always there to give her unconditional support for the decisions they made regardless of her own feelings.

She is loved by her co-workers, it has been said she raised a hospital full of doctors, nurses, and unit clerks at Saint Vincent Hospital where she worked for 33 years. She adopted several of her co-workers as sisters and brothers. Once she did, they were considered family and there was no way of getting out of her circle. While in her last days at Saint Vincent Hospital, the physicians and nurses over seeing her care were perplexed on seeing the number of doctors, nurses, unit clerks, and other hospital staff who were visiting her to show their love and respect. Her beautiful spirit, integrity, and care for others spoke volumes and will leave a lifelong impression on us all.

She fell in love with Jamaica on a very spiritual level. Making friends there whom she stayed in contact with until the very end.

Milly was a faithful member of New Life Worship Center and served on Pastoral Care until she moved away to Florida. She continued to call New Life her church home and streamed the services online to stay connected. Milly’s relationship with the Lord was special, she always told people how much He loved her no matter what. She was a prayer warrior and always had an encouraging word to speak into people’s lives. She was a very positive, loving person, with the most infectious smile. She will be missed by all who knew her or had the privilege to meet her. Her spirit is now free to spend the rest of Eternity with the God she loved. She is now soaring with the angels and has met King Jesus whom she loved whole heartedly!
