Mia Monique Farrow Bradley, a beautiful baby girl was born April 17, 1980, in Kalamazoo, MI, to her parents, Susan Farrow Scott and Muktar Garba. She was the first child for both parents.
Mia’s formative education began at Niles Elementary School and continued at Niles Junior High School. She attended and graduated from Northwest High School in Indianapolis, IN where she excelled in academics.
She was christened at three months old by Pastor Love at New Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church located in Buchanan, MI. At the tender age of 15 years old, Mia accepted Christ as her personal savior and was baptized in St. Paul, MN.
Mia worked for the State of Indiana for 10 years as a State Caseworker. She worked at I.U. Health University Hospital for several years until her demise.
She exemplified confidence and was a beautiful woman, inside and out, who loved her children and family. She loved the Lord and had a love for others which was expressed through her actions. Every summer she would gather her children and they would pack lunches for hundreds of homeless people and then go to the parks and pass them out. She would help anyone that needed help. That is just how big Mia’s heart was. She would pack all six of her children and take them on trips. She wanted her children to have exposure to the arts as well as various cultural experiences. Mia understood the importance of making her children’s education a priority. She often expressed to them that a good education would provide them with access to better job opportunities, higher salaries, and a higher standard of living. This was her way of empowering their future. This young woman touched so many lives and she will truly be missed. A wonderful Mom, daughter, sister and friend.
Let us not forget about how she loved to sing! Faith Evans and Beyonce were her favorite singers. Mia sung in her junior high and high school choirs. Oh, boy! Could Mia sing! Whenever the cousins would get together, they would have karaoke singing. Mia was always the star! She would sing and the beauty in her face shined through. Being able to see how people loved her singing, gave her so much joy and happiness that reflected back on her beautiful and unforgettable spirit.
But most of all Mia was my baby. I will never be able to put into words how much I love Mia Monique. Every morning I would call her, or she would call me. I would say, “Daughter…,” and she would say, “Mother…” I will miss those calls. Mia and I were alone when she was born and we were together, just Mia and I when she passed away. I’m thankful I was with my baby to say, “I love you and I will see you again one day.”
Mia was preceded in death by her loving daughter, Amaya Yvette Bradley; stepfather, Howard Scott; grandfather, Otha Farrow Sr.; and aunt, Rita Falana.
She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory and to celebrate her life, five children: daughter, Carrington Susan Bradley and four sons: Kei ‘Shone Jacob Allen, Kei Aundry Joshua Bradley, Kennedy Jeremiah Allen and Kayden Jasieh Bradley; beloved mother, Susan Farrow Scott; father, Muktar Garba; two sisters, Shannon Farrow and Seana Scott; brother, Alan Scott; maternal grandmother, Anna Blanche Brown of Big Lake, MN; and a host of nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, extended family and friends.
