Melvin Douglas Wesley

Mr. Melvin Douglas Wesley, the son of Marvin Dangerfield Wesley and Alice (Brown) Wesley (both deceased), was born October 12, 1937, in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He was the third child of four children born to this family union. At a young age, his family moved to Indianapolis, Indiana where Melvin received his elementary education at Indianapolis Public School #42. He graduated from Crispus Attucks High School and received his additional education from Indiana Vocational Technical College, Indy.

Melvin was a loving and protective father to his daughter, Latonia Wesley. He thoroughly enjoyed attending his high school class reunions and social events. He was also fondly known as “Tootie”, “Mel”, and “Mel D”. He had a calm and quiet demeanor and a soft laughter that made everyone feel comfortable. He also enjoyed listening to Jazz and Gospel music.

Melvin was united in Holy Matrimony to Virginia (Harrington) Wesley (deceased) and they were the epitome of a Christian loving and nurturing couple.

Melvin served in the United States Army. He was a Union Steward for PACE Industry Union-Management. Melvin also worked for the Finish Line, Inc., Indianapolis Corporate Warehouse, and he retired after many years of employment service for Christian Brothers Services at St. Augustine Home for Aged, Indianapolis, Indiana. Melvin was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Melvin Wesley peacefully departed this life on March 10, 2024, at 7:20 am., at Creekside Health and Rehabilitation Center, Indianapolis, Indiana.
