Melvin Alfred Wilburn

Mr. Melvin Alfred Wilburn, age 73, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2015.Melvin was born in Indianapolis, the first of nine children born to Sampson and Sarah Wilburn.He attended Indianapolis Public Schools and graduated from Shortridge HS in 1960. After graduation, Melvin enlisted in the US Air Force and served twenty years receiving an Honorable Discharge. He enjoyed spending time with family and watching any type of sports on television.Melvin considered himself a 'Jack of All Trades' and will be missed by all.Melvin is survived by his wife Linda; daughters, Donna (Andre) Tillery and Felicia (Dennis), six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth (Sandra), Sampson, Patrick (Tracy) Wilburn; sisters, Elaine Hyde, Janet Freeman, Karen (Todd) Simpson, Donna (Kenneth) Rhem, family friend Barbara; and a host of other relatives and friends.Family and Friends Visitation will be held on Monday, January 11, 2016 from 10am until 11am at Lavenia and Summers Home for Funerals 5811 E. 38th Street. Funeral service will follow at 11am. Burial will be in Marion National Cemetery.
