Maxine Chandler Byrdsong

Maxine Chandler Byrdsong, age 87 passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2016.Maxine graduated from Crispus Attucks High School and retired with a career of 30 years at Indiana Bell and AT&T as a telephone operator and in a supervisory position. She was preceded in death by her parents, Deacon William J. and Ora Lee Harris. Her husband, Rev. William S. Byrdsong, her brothers W.J., Leon, Eddie (Twins) Harold and Hubert, Sr., and sister: Ruth Collins Townsend. Maxine's hobbies were reading, sewing, decorating , traveling and doing garden work.On January 28, 2002, Maxine was united in Holy Matrimony to Rev. William S. Byrdsong and she accepted his two daughters, Carolyn and Angela as her own.Maxine accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Olive Baptist Church under the Pastorate of the late Rev. Toliver. Prior to her passing Maxine was a faithful member of Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church under the Pastorate of Rev. Dr. Darryl K. Webster.She was known by everyone for her unique fashion. Many will remember Maxine for her beautiful smile, soft voice and her kindness to others. She is survived by 2 step-daughters, a host of nieces and nephews, one god-daughter, sisters-in-laws, neighbors and numerous friends.Family and Friends Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 20th from 10am until service time of 12 noon at Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church, 3958 E.30th Street. Interment will be in Crown Hill Cemetery
