MS. MARTHA “GRANNY” BOYD entered into this world
on October 19, 1933, born to the late Mr. Earl Thomas and
Dorothy Elizabeth Wilson in Uniontown, Kentucky. The last of
three siblings, her late beloved brother Jessie and sister Vivian
joined together in Christ.
Ms. Martha graduated form Crispus Attucks High School in
Indianapolis, Indiana. She went on to work various jobs to earn
a living. She worked as a Nanny, in a cleaners and ended up
retiring from St. Vincent’s Hospital doing what she did best,
cooking in Dietary.
Ms. Martha was married to the late LC Boyd and they were
blessed with two children, Randy and Sandy, whom she loved
with her whole heart. Ms. Martha worked “Hard” to provide the
best life for herself, her children, grandchildren and for anyone
she was able to bless.
Ms. Martha was a faithful and loving woman of God, and gave
her life to Christ at an early age which allowed her to be a vessel
for His Glory while being fed her word from the foundation of
St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years.
Ms. Martha “Grann” Boyd leaves to cherish her memories,
two children Randy and Sandy Boyd; four grandchildren,
Marquita Bright, William Boyd, Joshua Sanders and Randell
Reed; 13 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren,
all that called her “Granny” or “Momma”; a host of nephews,
nieces, cousins, her friends and neighbors and all the loved ones
and strangers that experienced a taste of her life.
