Marshelle Lashay Simon, the third of four children, was born on January 10, 1961 to Ira Michael Miller and Mary Francis Johnson in Gary, Indiana.
Marshelle, affectionately known to family and friends as “Mickey,” attended Locke Elementary School, Tolleston Middle School and she graduated from Westside High School in 1980.
She attended Zion Temple COGIC, under the leadership of Pastor Elder McKinney, where she accepted Christ at an early age.
Marshelle met Calvin D. Anderson, who she married on May 14, 1981. She then joined her husband in 1981 as a member of Christ Temple COGIC under the leadership of Elder Morris C. Marshall Sr. Their union of over 25 years blessed us with three amazing children: Calvin II, Rejina and Alan Anderson.
She later met her second husband, Michael G. Simon, who she married on March 19, 2008 in Gary, Indiana.
Marshelle loved to read her bible, listen to gospel music, cook, watch a good movie with family and send words of encouragement to others. She loved going on family outings and making memories with her family.
On June 4, 2022, Marshelle departed this life. Although it may seem too soon, we take comfort in knowing that as the sun set, Marshelle ended her day in her new home and started her new life with her Father in Glory.
Marshelle leaves to cherish her sons, Calvin D. Anderson II (Alisha) and Alan D. Anderson Sr. (Ida V.); daughter, Rejina P. Anderson-Lindsey (Otis); beloved grandchildren: A’niyla Anderson, Ja’Niah Lindsey, Tianna Anderson, Ida Marie Anderson, Amira Anderson, Damon Anderson, Alan Anderson Jr. and Noah Anderson; brother, Henry Porter; a host of nieces, nephews, loving family and friends as well as her best friend to the end, her dog, Rocky Simon.
Marshelle is preceded in death by her parents, Ira Michael Miller and Mary Francis Johnson; husband, Michael G. Simon; granddaughter, JaShanda Anderson; sister, Mary Alice “Cookie”; and brother, Michael Porter.
