Obituary
Mark Edward Surrett was born November 18, 1964 to Rev. A.K. Surrett Sr. and Geraldine Surrett who proceeded him in death. Mark attended elementary School #66 in Indianapolis, IN. He moved to Johnstown, PA and graduated from Johnstown High School. Mark gave his life to Christ at a very early age and was passionate about Gospel Music. Mark loved to play the drums, and faithfully played for St. James Baptist Church in Johnstown PA, 16th Street Baptist Church in Huntington, WV and Greater St. James Baptist Church in Indianapolis, IN. He also played for the Gospel Music Workshop of America, and the union District Choir.
Mark loves his family so much; he was a man that never complained. Mark's family is proud to say that in the 53 years of his life, he never got into an argument with anybody in the family, and he was there for whoever needed him. Mark was a cheerful giver, he loved his church and if anybody said they were going to church, Mark was hanging on to their coat tails. Before his mother died she asked our sister Malea to take good care of him, and she did just that, she took on the mother role and he loved her dearly for that. Mark would always say he missed his mom and dad. In our family Saturday prayer calls his prayer was to no longer have seizures, so now he is with his mom and dad seizure free, and we can imagine our mother playing the piano and singing with our father and Mark playing the heavenly drums.
Mark was preceded in death by one brother Gerald Ogden. Mark leaves to cherish three brothers; Pastor Alfonzo Surrett Jr. (Debra), Clifford Surrett Sr. (Phyllis), Steven Surrett, three sisters: Cassandra Dartis (Copatric), Malea Britt, and Clydonna Surrett and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
