Marcus L. Jones

We celebrate Marcus LaRay Jones, a beacon of light, who passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 15, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and kindness. Marcus walked through life with a gentle strength, touching the lives of everyone he encountered with an unforgettable grace.

Marcus was born on November 30, 1962, in Terre Haute, Indiana to the late Richard and Alice Jones. Shortly after his birth, his parents relocated the family to Indianapolis. He accepted Christ at an early age, receiving the Holy Spirit and being baptized at Old Zion Tabernacle Apostolic Church in 1974. He completed his education at North Central High School and dedicated 30 years of service to Diamond Chain as a machinist and head of the lubrication/derust department, retiring in 2022. Marcus had a passion for watching boxing, playing pool, bike riding, and exercising. In 2010, he married Gayle, the love of his life. Together, they found joy in traveling and hosting friends and family at their home.

Marcus was recognized for his warm smile, compassionate nature, and notably, his faith in God. He was a dedicated spouse whose absence will be profoundly felt. Preceding him in death were his parents, Richard and Alice Jones, two brothers, Emery and Carvet Jones, his sister, Sheila Warfield, and his nephew, Sean Jones.

Marcus is survived by his wife, Gayle; sister, Kim Walston; sister-in-law, Stacey (Michael) Miller and many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends who will cherish his memory.
