March Eugene Ratney was born April 7, 1959 in Gary, Indiana to Priscilla Thomas and Walter Ratney Sr.

'Mad Max', as he was affectionately, received Christ at an early age at New Mount Moriah Baptist Church.
He attended Roosevelt High School and after graduation, March enlisted in the United States Army in November of 1976. He served his country until 1979, receiving and Honorable discharge from the Army.
March began working for Gary Parks Department which led him to driving trucks in 1985 until he retired in 2008.
March Eugene Ratney departed this earthly life to meet his Savior on Thursday, June 21, 2018. His father, Walter Ratney Sr.; sister, Barbara Mosley; and grandparents, Mary and Jimmy Walter preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memories to his daughter, Lakeasha Cannon; son, March E. Ratney Jr.; eleven grandchildren; mother, Priscilla Thomas; six brothers, three sisters; a host of nieces, nephews, loving family and special friends, Mable and John Brummett.
