Malinda Earlene (Carter) Harper

Malinda E. (Carter) Harper , was born January 1,, 1944 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Cyril and Lurene (Cooksey)Carter.

She attended Indianapolis Public Schools #26 and Arsenal Technical High School.  Malinda received Technical Certificates from Culinary Arts School.  She was a very intelligent, wise and knowledgeable person, offering words of wisdom to many people.

Malinda was employed at RCA, Kendall Inn, Car Bob and Methodist Hospital. Malinda retired from St. Francis Hospital. Later in life she worked for Harper’s Counseling & Family Therapy, her son’s agency.

She accepted the Lord as her Savior at a young age at St. Paul C.M.E. Church. She later joined Trinity Baptist Church for many years.  She enjoyed being an active and supportive member in the churches she attended.

Malinda was a very loving and giving person who loved to travel including three trips to Germany and annual trips to New Orleans for Mardi Gras to visit loved ones.  Malinda never met or ran into a person that she did not make an impression on.  To this day she has hundreds of people asking when she is coming back to New Orleans.

Malinda was preceded in death by her parents, Cyril and Lurene Carter; her husband, Howard Harper Sr.; brothers, Cyril Carter Jr. and James Sarver; and sisters, Phyliss Meadows and Vada Lyles.

She leaves to cherish her memory: sons, Howard Harper Jr., (Angela) and Steve Harper; daughter, Malinda Harper; grandchildren: Howard Harper (Amber), Andrea Hopkins (Keyajrius), Laquresha Myers, Alicia Harper, Malicia Myers and Reginal Myers Jr.;  great-grandchildren: Ramel Harper, Ralph Campbell III, Howard Harper IV, Caleb Campbell, Jeremiah Robinson and Ava Hopkins; sister, Correne Hawkins; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
