Mae Ellen (Williams) Smith

Mae Ellen Smith, one of seven children, was born to Lemuel Nichols and Ollie Powell on July 25, 1937 in Canton, Mississippi.

She met and married Charles H. Smith in 1964 and from this union two children, Alice Nicole and Robert H. Smith were born.

Mae was a member of Kingsley Terrace Church of Christ in her early years. She was a professional seamstress for Bass Cleaners for several years. Later, Mae became employed by Forest Manor Public School, from where she retired in 1987, as their head dietician.

She loved sewing and crocheting for other people. Mae made many hats and quilts for many of her friends and neighbors. She was also known for her famous sweet potato pies.

Mae Ellen Smith departed this life on Wednesday, November 26, 2018 at the age of 81 years. Her daughter, Alice; brothers: Willie, Lee, Oliver, Lemuel and James; and sister, Viola all preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories to her only son, Robert H. Smith; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, James Nichols; a host of loving family and friends.
