Lucille Demmings was born on February 24, 1919 in Smithville, Tennesse; the second twin daughter of the late Charles E. League and Hallie H. Allen. She was born premature and was small enough to fit in a shoe box.
On February 11, 1946 Lucille was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Freddie James Demmings. The union was blessed with eight children – four sons and four daughters.
Education was important to her so much that she received her GED from Crispus Attucks High School on July 3, 1975 at the age of 56.
She was a loving Mother. Grandmother, Sister, and Aunt. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Lucille Demmings departed this life on June 21, 2020 at the age of 101. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her sisters Louise Patton(twin) and Robbie Dean Fisher. She leaves to cherish her memory eight children: Ray Francis Demmings, Freddie Lucille Stewart-Sanders(Troy), Meddie Lee Demmings, Helen Doris Demmings, James Louis Demmings, Richard Allen Demmings, Wanda Kay Farris, and Eunice Marie Rutland; also 32 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; other family and friends.
