Leisa S. (Owens) Ledford

Leisa Sheri (Owens) Ledford, the daughter of Donald and Deris Owens, was born March 29, 1975 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Leisa was baptized as a child establishing her committed relationship with the Lord.

She was a 1993 graduate of Warren Central High School. While there, Leisa was involved with the all-female chorus, performing on stage in numerous musical productions. She also was a participant in the Miss Indianapolis Teen pageant, capturing Second Runner up in 1991 and the First-Runner up title in 1992.

Leisa went on to graduate from Kentucky State University earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. Leisa would begin her career teaching preschool students at Castleton United Methodist Church. She also taught at Abundant Life as well as Indianapolis Public Schools inspiring a beginning curiosity to learn in early learners.

Leisa was always known to be a compassionate, loving person with an incredible smile. She was an avid reader, smart as a whip and a true teacher at heart.

In 2008, Leisa was united in Holy Matrimony to Ron Ledford and to their union three children were born. She was a devoted wife and mother with a gracious, kind and humble spirit. Without a doubt she will be truly missed by her family and many friends who loved her dearly.

Leisa Sheri (Owens) Ledford went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the age of 43 years, surrounded by family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Ron Ledford; three children: Jessica, Nicholas and Joshua Ledford; step-daughter, Jasmine Ledford; her parents, Donald and Deris Owens; sister, Tonya Montgomery (Corey); niece, Nia Montgomery; nephew, Quincy Montgomery; grandmother, Alta Mae Owens; mother-in-law, Barbara Johnson; brothers-in-law: Keith Ledford (Michelle), Tony Ledford (Sally) and Larry Ledford (Chinwe); a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
