On March 29, 1940, Launa Smith was born to Charles Henry Smith and Frankie Mae Smith Alexander. Launa graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in 1957. She then worked for the Fort Harrison Finance Center for a few years. Wanting a warm change, Launa moved to Los Angeles, California in 1963.
Launa was employed by the Water and Electric Company until her retirement in 1998. She then returned to Indianapolis in 1999. When she returned to Indianapolis, Launa lived with her sister Lois.
Launa was an avid reader, loved doing crossword puzzles and playing cards. She loved going to the gym to work out and do water aerobics.
Launa traveled to Europe and Hawaii with her sisters Charlene and Barbara. She also enjoyed trips to family reunions. You could always find Launa shopping. She was very fashionable.
The sun set on Launa on October 28, 2022. Her parents, Charles, and Frankie Smith; brother, Henry Smith; sisters Norma Jewel Thompson-Powell and Charlene Clemons, all preceded her in death.
Launa is survived by her sisters, Barbara Smith, Lois A. Smith, and Diana Thompson, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
