Kenneth Ray Thompson Sr. was born to Charlie and Eunice (Sims) Thompson in Memphis, Tennessee on December 5, 1942. He attended Crispus Attucks High School, Ivy Tech Community College and served in the United States Army.
“Kenny”, as he was lovingly called, professed his faith in Christ at an early age. Kenny attended Phillips Temple C.M.E. Church under the leadership of Pastor Oliver DeWayne Walker. -Psalms 23 1:6
He was employed at the Chrysler Foundry for 30 years before retiring in 2000. He worked in the elements of triple-degree heat while building engine blocks.
Kenny formerly married Andrea (Thompson) Rodgers in 1970. The union brought two children Angela “Slim” and Kenny Jr. “Man”. Kenny Sr. was a generous soul and loved to be around people. He was known for his witty humor and flirting with the ladies. He loved watching any type of sports and westerns on television, and photography. His health failed many years ago, but he was blessed to live in his home with his children Kenny Jr. and Samantha.
Kenneth Ray Thompson Sr. earned his heavenly wings on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at home surrounded by his family at the age of 79 years. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Eunice Thompson; and granddaughter, Te’Andra Thompson.
He leaves to cherish his memory to his children, Angie Love and Kenny Thompson Jr. (Samantha Hendrix); grandson, Kalvin Thompson; sister/cousin, Gloria Elliott; sisters-in-law: Denise Johnson, Shelia Sutton and Francine Hooten; brothers-in-law: Marvin Turner, Larry Sutton, Michael Sutton, Curtis Sutton and Michael Hooten; a hosts of nieces, nephews, cousins, loving relatives and friends. `
