Kenneth Louis 'Kenny' Walker

June 5, 1956 — April 29, 2016

Mr. Kenneth Louis (Kenny) Walker, age 59, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2016.'Kenny' was born in Indianapolis to John and Bertha Harper Walker, the sixth of eight children. Kenny started his life on the near Northside of Indianapolis at 21st and Northwestern Ave. in a family-oriented neighborhood. In the mid sixties the family settled in the state fairgrounds area.Kenny attended IPS schools #87, 66 Kennedy Middle and Shortridge High School.Kenny came to know and love the Lord at a very young age and was well versed in the Bible through the tutorage of Sister Mary Williams, adorably known as his grandmother. He was employed as a painter until his health no longer permitted it. But nothing stopped him from caring for his ailing mother.Kenny, also called 'Nickel Baby' by his mother and grandmother, asked for and saved nickels in his attempt to 'be rich one day'. He always wanted to earn enough money to take care of his family... and take care of his family he did. Kenny owned numerous properties in his lifetime, where siblings and extended family have resided at one time or another. He had a big heart and not a selfish bone in his body. He had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews and he loved his friends like family. He loved watching movies with his eldest brother Butch. Sometimes they would watch into the early mornings. He also loved to cook and eat. His brother, son called him 'The Foodster' and his brother Pie was his guardian angel.Kenny will be sorely missed by his siblings; Beverly Moazami, Charles 'Butch' Humble (Jeanette), Lloyd 'Pie' Walker (Barbara) Sharon Walker, Rodney Walker, Hiawatha Walker and Tony Walker, nieces, nephews and a host of other loving family and countless friends.Family and Friends Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016 from 10am until 12 Noon at Lavenia and Summers Home for Funerals 5811 E. 38th Street.
