On October 14th, 1978, Joyce married the love of her life, Fred Taylor. Their marriage was a testament to love, commitment, and unwavering support. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. With this union they had three children, Sharyka, Frederick, and Dominique.
Joyce's greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted wife to Fred, a loving mother to her daughter Sharyka, her sons Frederick and Dominique, and an amazing grandmother. Her love knew no bounds, and she dedicated her life to ensuring the happiness and well-being of her family. She opened her home to each and every person that she met and lovingly became known as “mom dukes” and “granny” to so many.
In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Joyce was an active member of the community. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior, finding solace and strength in her faith at Jesus Way Open Door Church. She dedicated her time to serving others and spreading kindness and joy wherever she went.
Joyce had a passion for cooking, and her family and friends were blessed to enjoy her delicious meals. The weekends were always a special occasion, as the Taylor household transformed into the gathering place for card parties, filled with laughter, music, friendly competition, and cherished memories.
Throughout her life, Joyce worked as a school bus driver for Indianapolis Public Schools and Lawrence Township. She played a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of countless children as they traveled to and from school. Her kindness and warm demeanor brightened the lives of those she encountered each day.
Joyce Taylor was preceded in death by her father, Lewis C Presswood; her aunts: Emma (Strickling) Presswood, Ruby (Strickling) Hudson, Verline (Strickling) McDade; her uncles: Willie Strickling, LT. Strickling and Eddie Strickling; and her goddaughter, Cynthia Culpepper.
She was surrounded by her loving family as she transitioned from this world to the next. Joyce Taylor leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering dedication to her family. Her memory will forever be cherished by her beloved husband Fred Taylor, her adoring children: Sharyka (David), Frederick, and Dominique, her mother Ella Strickling, brothers: Robert Cheatams, Lewis Presswood, and Tony Presswood, goddaughter: Lethrice Hamilton, grandchildren: Devon, Avonia, Frederick Jr., Dominique Jr., Daylin, Diamond, Camille, and Channing, a host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and all those who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Joyce Taylor will forever be remembered for her kindness, love, and unwavering commitment to those she held dear. Her legacy will continue to inspire and uplift all who were fortunate enough to have been touched by her presence. May her soul find eternal peace in the embrace of our Lord and Savior.
