Joseph W. Lewis

Mr. Joseph W. Lewis was born on July 21, 1946 in Cleveland, Mississippi to Harry Sr. and Rosetta Young Lewis.

He moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1956 and received his education through the Indianapolis Public School System.

Joseph worked various jobs, retiring from Walmart in 2014, working in the maintenance department after 5 years of service.

He enjoyed spending time with family at home and at family gatherings.  At these gatherings he enjoyed playing cards, eating good home cooked food and good conversation with family and friends. Joseph loved watching CNN news, he felt this was his calling to educate himself and everyone else on what was going on in the world while never leaving his house.

Mr. Joseph W. Lewis departed this life on Monday, May 2, 2022 at the age of 75 years, 9 months and 11 days. His daughter, Gwendolyn Tanner; grandson, Brandon Hardy; four brothers: Harry Jr., Sam, Freddie and Prinnie; two sisters, Aletha Hubbard and Estella Lewis all preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his loving memory to his sister, Viola Fincher; three granddaughters: Krystal Vaden (James), Sharita Tanner and Larisa Tanner; eight great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and cherished friends.
