Mrs. Jessie Mae Burt, age 79 passed away on Monday, February 1, 2016.Mrs. Jessie Mae Burt, the 2nd child and only daughter was born June 1, 1936 in Oxford, Mississippi to the late George and Eva McGuen Booker.Jessie confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at St. Paul C.M.E. Church, Oxford, Mississippi. She joined Mt. Zion Freewill Baptist Church and was a member there for over 40 years where she served an usher, nurse and over the kitchen. Jessie was a very hard worker. She was employed at Laughner's Cafeteria, Imperial Packing Co., and Indiana State Department of Health where she retired in 1999. Jessie was united in Holy Matrimony to the late James L. Burt in 1956. To their union 4 children were born. She is the loving mother of Addie Green (Clyde) of Oxford, Miss., Danny Lee Burt, Sr., of Oxford Miss., Loretta Johnson and Robin Burt. Mrs. Jessie Hurt is survived by her children, 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brother; Floyd Patton of St. Louis, Missouri and Gus Booker (Cora) of Pearland, Texas; she is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends. Family and Friends Visitation: Saturday, February 6th, 2016 at 10 a.m. until 12 Noon at Barnes United Methodist Church, 900 W. 30th Street. Funeral service will follow at Noon. Burial: New Crown Cemetery.
