Jessie Mae Brooks was born on January 18, 1933, in Morgan Town, Kentucky to the late George T. McReynolds and Addie Bell Cook-McReynolds. Jessie and family moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1936. Jessie professed her faith in Christ at an early age. She attended Indianapolis Public School #26.
Jessie was a devoted member of True Vine Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Fred Dorsey. She loved her church family where she served as a Nurse and in the Sanctuary and Mass Choir Ministries.
Jessie worked at Curly Cleaners for over 30 years. She was a loving kind person who was willing to help anyone in need. She loved to knit, cook, fish and garden. She was well known for her fried apples and peach pies.
She departed this life on February 22, 2025, at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her husband, father and mother. She leaves to cherish her memory, her sister, Charlena M. Brewer, nephews, known as “The Fellas”; David Brewer, Leon Wilson, Timothy Wilson and Reverend Dorris Wilson Jr. (Denise), niece, Linda Scott (George Scott Jr.), cousin Lawrence McReynolds (Jerrie McReynolds) including a host of other family and friends.
