Mr. Jerry J. Clay, Sr. 'J.C.', age 48, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2016.

Jerry Jerone Clay, Sr. 'J.C.' was born n Indianapolis, IN to the late Bishop Arbie and Mary Clay. Jerry confessed a hope in Christ at an early age under the leadership of his father, Bishop Arbie Clay. He attended Thomas Carr Howe High School and graduated in 1985. During his time at Howe he received many honors and awards.

Jerry was an entrepreneur at an early age and was the owner of various community businesses and he made many contributions to the community. Jerry had a special passion for his family and friends...he was the one you could count on.

Jerry loved to host family get-togethers. He did this every 4th of July for many years. He also loved to travel.

After a long fight, Mr. Jerry Clay was called home to be with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Patty and Venos and a great-nephew; Kevin Miller.

Jerry leaves to cherish his loving memory: his god-mother, Mrs. Thelma Brooks-Toliver; Monica Clay and children Jerry Clay, II., and Monya Clay; two brothers; Arbie Clay, Jr. and Avany Clay, four sisters; Arlene Clay, Mary Jones, Arlene Clay and Lisa Clay, one grandson for whom he had a very special love; Jerry Clay, III., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Family and Friends Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 from 10am until 12 Noon at The House of Prayer, 6175 East 46th Street. Funeral service will follow at 12 Noon. Interment will be in New Crown Cemetery.
