Jennifer Joanne Taylor Hogan, the second daughter of the late Dorothy Mae Strong Taylor and the late Harold Earnest Taylor, was born December 18, 1957 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

She attended Indianapolis Public School #76 and #60 and graduated from Shortridge High School in 1976. She graduated from Martin University with a degree in Business Accounting.

Jennifer was a dedicated worker who worked as an Accounting Associate and Revenue Analyst at Price Waterhouse Coopers, Whitewater Valley Presbytery Office of Finance & Property and she retired from the City of Indianapolis Office of Finance & Management after over 14 years of service.

She was blessed with two children – Tenia and Martin.

Jennifer accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at an early age and was baptized by the late Dr. Andrew J. Brown at St. John Missionary Baptist Church. Jennifer has been an active member of the St. John’s family for her entire life (63 years), until her most recent battle with cancer. She was involved with the Southern Leadership Conference’s Operation Breadbasket Choir, the Cherub Choir, and she served the church in various capacities over the years.

Jennifer loved to skate. She started her skating journey at Scofield Skating Rink and would walk to the skating rink every Saturday Morning with her sister, Carla Taylor Broadnax, and her cousin, Kathy Taylor and continued taking her niece and nephew almost every weekend. Her all white skates are still tucked away in her closet. Jennifer was featured on Soul Train in the early 70’s after winning tickets in a radio promotion. She loved eating out, weekend shopping trips and watching the Colts games with her sister and reading her bible. She also enjoyed attending the Solid Word Bible Church Seasoned Saints group trips and activities and the prayer celebrations led by her favorite nephew, Jerry Lander, Jr.

Jennifer always possessed a giving spirit and was always willing to help anyone she met. She had a keen sense of direction and loved taking new routes to get around the city. Jennifer was affectionately called “Aunt GeGe” by all of her nieces and nephews and was known as “Mimi” to her two grandchildren, Madison Aaliyah and Mason Alexander. She was the sweetest person many of us knew and will be missed beyond words.

Jennifer Joanne Taylor Hogan fought a long, courageous battle against cancer going into remission several times before the disease metastasized and returned to her body in 2020. Her oncologist a week ago described her as the strongest warrior he’s ever seen and her last day in their office the staff and her favorite nurses were all crying and thanking her for her sweet, quiet spirit and Godly influence in their office over the past few years.

Jennifer Joanne Taylor Hogan departed this life peacefully on Monday, June 28 at the age of 63 years. Her parents, Dorothy and Harold Taylor; brother, Paul Leonard Taylor, grandmother, Anna Mae Gupton, preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Tenia Muhammad; son, Martin Williams; her aunt, Jerline Duncan; her sister, Carla Yvonne Broadnax; and two Grandchildren, Madison Aliyah and Mason Alexander Muhammad; and a host of loving relatives, countless friends and her St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church family.
