Janet Marie Bell Simmons was born on January 8, 1955 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of James Jackson, Dorothy Bell Gaines and Billy Enoch. Janet was educated through the Indianapolis Public School system where she attended IPS #44, Crispus Attucks High School and graduated from Shortridge High School. Janet was employed by Indiana Bell/AT&T for over 30 years retiring in 2010.
Janet professed a hope in Christ at an early age. As a child, she attended Pilgrim Baptist Church. She then joined New Haven Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Pastor Dr. Raymond Hiser, where she worked with the youth and was a member of the Young Adult Choir. She later joined St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Curtis Vance, where she was a Sunday School teacher, worked with the young people and sang in the choir.
Janet was joined in holy matrimony to Andrew Spencer Simmons on July 24, 1982. With this union, Andrew gained two sons, Paul and Michael Bell. Janet and Andrew celebrated a wonderful marriage of 35 years in July 2017.
Janet loved to travel, scrapbook and plan events. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was involved with her granddaughter's girl scout troop. She participated in various community activities and served on the first committee of the Riverside Neighborhood Reunion. But most of all, Janet loved worshiping Christ.
Janet Marie Bell Simmons departed this life to be with the Lord on October 8, 2017 at the age of 62 years. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
