Janet I. McQueen was born May 1, 1929 to Carl and Virginia Butler in Indianapolis, Indiana. Janet was the only child.
She attended Indianapolis Public School #37, Crispus Attucks High School, and Tuskegee University where she received her Associates Degree. Janet had been employed with the US Finance Center, Western Electric and retired from Gov. Highway.
On February 29, 1948, Janet was united in Holy Matrimony with James McQueen, Jr., where they leaped to Love and Faith!!! Married for 50 blessed years.
Janet professed a Hope for Christ at an early age. She became a lifelong member of Light of the World Christian Church.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Janet was a very loving and caring woman. She was a very active sponsor in AA and a great public speaker. She loved to go to the Casinos and enjoyed playing “friendly” cards. Janet loved her family, she dearly loved her husband.
Janet I. McQueen departed this life on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at the age of 91 years, 1 month and 29 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Virginia Butler; her husband, James McQueen, Jr.; one son, Anthony C. McQueen; two grandsons, Thomas Dozier, Jr. and Reginald Hendricks, Jr.
She leaves to celebrate her life and legacy, her daughter, Bonita D. Hood; son, Marc S. McQueen; four grandchildren: Donnell Sanders, Andrea Hendricks (Reggie), Tiffany Gerald and Troy McQueen); five great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren and a host of friends.
